Samsung has confirmed that there are problems with the Google Galaxy Nexus smartphone that causes unexpected fluctuations in the earpiece volume.
The handset has gone on sale in the UK and is due to on sale in the USA shortly.
Samsung said that it is aware of the problem and will offer a repair but was unable to say when the fault would be fixed.
"Regarding the Galaxy Nexus, we are aware of the volume issue and have developed a fix," Samsung said in a statement. "We will update devices as soon as possible."
The nature of the problem seems to vary depending on the reports sent into discussion forums, with some suggesting it could be hardware related, and others only noticing it when switching to a GSM network.
If it can be found to be software related, then Samsung should be able to patch the US models before they go one sale. If hardware related, then unless it is a problem with a single batch, the launch in the US may have to be delayed pending modifications.
