The Galaxy Nexus has gone on sale in the US ending numerous rumours as to when it was going to be available to Americans keen to get the new Ice Cream Sandwich powered phone from Google and Samsung.
The new Android 4.0 phone, which will come with 4G LTE connectivity in the USA, will be available on Verizon and cost $299.99 up front on a new two year contract.
The Galaxy Nexus, announced in October, is Google's new flagship smartphone running the latest version of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich which brings a number of new features over Gingerbread.
The new US phone will be thicker than its UK alternative measuring 9.47mm rather than 8.94mm.
The new phone sports a dual-core 1.2GHz application processor, a 4.65-inch AMOLED touchscreen, NFC, and a 5-megapixel camera.
Customers that purchase a Galaxy Nexus by Samsung will need to subscribe to a Verizon Wireless Nationwide Talk plan beginning at $39.99 monthly access and a smartphone data package starting at $30 monthly access for 2GB of data.
