Just a couple of days back, news about the sales ban injunction put on Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1 being lifted began doing rounds, bringing relief not only to the South Korean company, but also to all those who've been fervently waiting for the tablet to make an appearance. It seems, however that Samsung's joys have been terribly short lived. A Reuters report confirms that an Australian court has extended the duration of the sales ban on the tablet by a week, dashing the company's hopes of doing well in the crucial Christmas shopping season.

where we reported about the ban on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 being lifted, it was also stated that immediately after the ban was lifted, a disappointed, but unrelenting Apple sought for a stay order. The order meant that Apple would have time on its hand to appeal against the 'overturning of the injunction' before the High Court of Australia. The stay order on the ban, meaning that the ban itself would have been applicable till 4 pm (0500 GMT) on Friday, but now, post Apple's appeal the ban has been extended till December 9, 2011. Justice John Dyson Heydon, in an official quote stated that the orders made by the Federal Court on Nov 30 "be stayed pending the termination of applicants application for special leave to appeal."
Now, the hearing scheduled for December 9, 2011 will decide whether Samsung will be able to continue with the sales of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia. By all means, December 9, 2011 is an important day for both Samsung and Apple.
