According to people who have already got the Gingerbread update, there is a noticeable difference in the performance of the phone. The 3G speeds and the web-browser performance have also improved. The notification toggles at the top of the notification bar have been enhanced a bit, and the Email app now uses a new font and is much more stable and faster. Fascinate owners should also see a noticeable improvement in the battery life of their phone.
The update is being slowly rolled out to all Fascinate handsets out there, and should hit their phone in a few days. Alternatively, users can manually pull the update from Verizon’s update server by going to Settings-> About Phone and then selecting the ‘Software Update’ option.
In all probability, this is the last official software update for the Fascinate from Verizon. The Fascinate won’t be getting the Ice Cream Sandwich update officially. For owners who have rooted their Fascinate, they can simply head over to XDA and download and install the beta Ice Cream Sandwich ROM for their handset.
