This leads us to the second bit of news— the formal announcement of a new 4G phone, the Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G. The phone (which will be among the first to take full advantage of T-Mobile’s HSPA+ 42), will feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S3 chip, which of course is a dual-core processor and will be clocked at 1.5Ghz. In addition, the phone will feature that super sexy Super AMOLED display. T-Mobile has skimped on the specifics, but stresses more details and specifics of the phone will surface over the coming weeks and months. We hope to find out the window of which we can expect the phone to reach T-Mobile stores at a later date as well. Nevertheless, the Galaxy S Blaze 4G looks like it’s going to be a great device for communicating with friends and family.
And this leads us to the third piece of T-Mobile’s announcement: the introduction of the Bobsled Messaging app by T-Mobile. The app is essentially T-Mobile’s answer to Apple’s iMessage and “allows users to send and receive free individual and group messages with friends and family from any Android-powered smartphone or tablet, and any web connected, browser-enabled device”. The app is available in the Android Market today. Also of note is the enhancement of T-Mobile’s Bobsled Calling service which enables users to make free phone calls from their mobile and WiFi-enabled devices including Android-powered smartphones and tablets as well as iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch devices.
That’s one heck of a statement T-Mobile is trying to make. Let’s hope we see some more phones in the next few days at CES now. Hit the break for the complete press release from T-Mobile.
